Breaking News
I imagine by now that many of you will have heard news coming out of the RAF about their departure over the next couple of years. Our Service families have always been an integral part of this school, giving both their children and the school great support. Indeed, many of our school staff and governors will be affected by this development. It is a sad day for Innsworth but we will just have to wait and see what the future holds.
You may also have read about the LEA Area Primary School Review that is currently going on. This is similar to the secondary school review where there are more places than needed in schools. Again, we just have to wait for the LEA to feed back to us on whatever decisions they arrive at. Back to top
Please take care on the roads
Last week one of our cyclists was placed in a difficult situation because of the traffic congestion outside the school. Cars were stopping to drop off their passengers causing other cars to stop sharply. As the cyclist tried to come around the cars, another car was trying to overtake her whilst another car was coming towards her from the opposite direction. As you can image, she did not know what to do and panicked. She did, in fact, cross in front of the oncoming car to the safety of the opposite pavement. This scenario had the potential to have caused a serious accident. Please may I ask you to consider stopping a little further away from the school gate so that congestion will be kept to a minimum. Safety of all pupils must be of paramount importance to all of us, at all times. Thank you. Back to top
Manpower needed - Equal opportunities exist at Innsworth!
Our ecology area is in desperate need of care and attention.
Over the last few years this area has had 'spasmodic' attention but invariably the periods of non-attention cause the greatest impact. As we now wish to make better use of the ecology area within the curriculum, we need to 'prepare the ground'.
Are there any volunteers, who are willing to form a working party, with a commitment to keeping the ecology area 'tidy'?
Please contact Mrs Kemmett [Year 6] if this appeals to you. Many thanks. Back to top
Mrs Kemmett
As we have the residential visit coming up fairly soon, we feel this is an opportune moment to announce that Mrs Kemmett will be taking maternity leave from the end of the first Autumn term. We are delighted for her even though we will be missing her teaching skills and expertise for a little while. She has assured us that she will be back, probably in the summer term next year.
Now I am sure, that whilst you all wish Mrs Kemmett well, you may also be a little concerned about having a temporary teacher in Year 6. Have no fears, Mrs Kemmett's maternity cover teacher will be no other than Mrs Dianne Evans, who left us last Christmas.
If you have any doubts, just ask the Class 3 children and parents. We could not ask for a better arrangement than this.
Congratulation Mrs Kemmett. Residential children, "Look after Mrs Kemmett whilst you are away." Back to top

Governors Report to Parent
This will be sent out tomorrow and we need to know that all parents have received their copy. To ensure that this happens, we are providing a return slip, which will then go into a ballot. The winning return slip, which is pulled out, will earn the named child on the slip a £5 voucher. Attention all children - It's worth your while returning the parents' reply slip to your class teacher.

Please note that there will also be an incentive to return the slip at the bottom of the paper version of this newsletter. Back to top
Headlice
Headlice is rife in many parts of the school. What is happening to the Sunday evening head check? Without every one of us being constantly vigilant in our quest to eradicate this most persistent of problems, this cycle of 'diminishing headlice' to a 'rampant display' will continue. Parents have every right to become angry when they are playing their part and then headlice reappear because one or a few parents across the school are not playing their part. If we cannot maintain better control of this, I will consider sending out a questionnaire to try to elicit why we are constantly being plagued by headlice. Other than this, I am at a loss at how to help our parents combat this problem. The use of school nurses to check heads is not allowed. Any suggestions will be very welcome. Back to top
Walking Club
A new venture this term has been the walking club, set up by Mr Oakley, chair of governors. I was almost tempted to join in last Saturday when they set off under a super blue sky to walk the surrounding areas around Innsworth [paperwork won the day!] I know those, who did join Mr Oakley, had a thoroughly good time.
Please remember that there is no club on the next two Mondays - 20th and 27th. It will, however, resume on Monday July 4th. I do believe there is another Saturday walk planned for Saturday 16th July. Back to top
Achievements
During the year I have included names of children who have achieved in sporting activities. I have not, however, included names of the musicians who have achieved in their field. This will be rectified in an achievement newsletter at the end of the year. Back to top
