Happy Easter
We break up for the Easter holidays this Friday and return to school on Tuesday 18th April. Please note that this is the Tuesday following Easter Monday. Because the LEA are now committed to having six terms of a similar length, Easter will not always 'sit' in the middle of the break that occurs at this time of year. Back to topChess
I am pleased to report that the Chess team have comfortably won the two games, which were played this month.Innsworth v St Mary's 5 boards to 1 board.
Innsworth v King's School 5 boards to 1 board.
Well done to Peter, Jacob, James, James, Jamie and Adam who have all been given places in the Gloucester Chess team to play Cheltenham in April.
As Peter will be heading the Gloucester team as captain, he will have the chance to compete for the title of Gloucestershire Chess Champion. Back to top
Music Evening
Well done to all our pupils who performed at the Music Evening last Wednesday. The children displayed remarkable talent, both in singing and playing. From the Year 3 children playing their recorders to the talented Year 6 instrumentalists, we were able to applaud the standards that have come about as the result of dedicated persistence over months and years. Congratulations must go to Miss Schofield for maintaining the high standard of Music within the school. Back to topLunchtimes
We are now coming to the end of our first term of eating lunch in the school hall. The noise level is still problematic so we will need to work on this next term. Back to topPlaying on the School Field
Last Thursday the weather was good enough for us to go on the field. However, it was spoilt by the rough play from many pupils in one particular year group. These pupils have been spoken to very severely so we hope that there will be no repeats of this next term. Following my investigation of the incident, it has become obvious that many pupils are copying wrestling moves which they have watched on T.V. If your child watches wrestling programmes, please would you reiterate how dangerous these moves are.Handstands are another activity that comes to the fore in the summer months. Whilst we do not want to ban handstands, it is important for children to recognise that they may hurt themselves if they end up 'going completely over'. Please would you discuss this with your child.
