Harvest Festival: Wednesday 9th October
A big thank you must go to all the helpers who made 'Harvest' the success that it was. We have been inundated with 'Thank you' letters and cards. The senior citizens were certainly very appreciative of the school's efforts. Thank you Year 3 for carrying those heavy bags of 'Harvest' goods around the streets. Back to topTrainers
We do need all parents to back us on the wearing of school shoes, as we do not consider trainers to be the correct footwear for school.Trainers are acceptable for outdoor games lessons and the playing of football on the field. Outside of these activities we would prefer not to have trainers in evidence as they do not complement the school uniform nor do they help children to accept school rules. The majority of parents already endorse our stance. Thank you for this. Occasionally it may be necessary for a child to wear trainers for a variety of reasons. However, we would expect this to be for a short time only and not the normal choice of footwear. Back to top
Cool Milk Scheme
We are still in negotiations with the people promoting milk at school. However, we have only received the offer of help from one definite and two possible parents to help with the distribution of the milk and the maintenance of the fridge. The children are already tied up with monitoring jobs and the staff have more than enough to keep them busy each day. We will shortly have to consider whether this project is manageable. If you are able to give a regular commitment to helping out, please contact the school office. Thank you. Back to topYour Child's Contact Details
A Data Collection Sheet and Ethnic Background Data Sheet will be available at the Consultation Evening. Please check all the details held on computer for your child and amend as necessary or confirm the details are correct.Would you please also complete the ethnic detail sheet as required by the DfES.
If you are unable to attend Consultation Evening these forms will be sent home with your child and should be returned by Friday 25th October.
If you change your telephone number please remember to let us know. This is especially important when mobile telephones are being changed fairly regularly and this is our main point of contact with you. Thank you. Back to top
Cello Music Lesson
There will be no cello lesson this week. Next lesson takes place on Friday 8th November. Back to topFamily Photographs
If you did not receive the proof print of your family group taken at school on Thursday 3rd October, you will need to have a retake. The photographer was very apologetic about what had happened and explained that there was a fault with the camera lens. To make amends he has agreed that the families involved will be given a medium and two small prints free of charge. The Photographer will be returning at 8.00 a.m. on Friday 25th October [this Friday] to retake any group photos. We are unable to contact you personally because we do not know which families have been affected. Any other family, who did not take originally take advantage of having a family photograph taken, will also be more than welcome to come along on Friday morning. Back to top
Relief Cleaners
There are times when we are desperate for relief cleaners and midday supervisors. At present we have a cleaner who is on sick leave and this is making it very difficult for the other two members of staff. If you feel you would like to offer your services when this type of situation arises please let the office know. Back to topTennis
I am really pleased with the way tennis is going. When I looked in on Monday all the children seemed to be enjoying themselves. Back to topThe Friends of Innsworth School Christmas Bazaar: Saturday 9th November 12.00 - 2.00 p.m.

Friends of Innsworth Beetle Drive
Thank you for supporting this very enjoyable evening. The Friends raised approximately £140 for the school. In the New Year we hope to hold a Bingo Night, so look out for details next term. Back to topSwimming
Thank you to all our parents who have so willingly given up their time to accompany the children to the pool. We do appreciate your support. Back to topConsultation Evening Wednesday 23rd October
Thank you to all of you who have already arranged your times with the class teachers. If you are unable to attend on Wednesday, you will find the teachers very co-operative about making an alternative date. It is essential that you have feedback about your child's progress. Children love to see their parents' faces when they hear how well they are working and see the work that they have achieved in the classroom.I am also available should you wish to see me about any concerns that you may have. I am sure that you must be aware of how much we value the support and partnership, which we have with you the parents. Your child deserves the best education that we can offer.
Following your consultation time, it would be greatly appreciated if you could take home our questionnaire. By completing this as honestly as you can, as it will allow us to monitor and evaluate your views about our school. Please could you return it by Monday 4th November. Many Thanks. Back to top
Reading Records
Occasionally teachers do become very annoyed when reading records appear to have been lost. This record is invaluable to teachers as a quick glance will indicate how much reading is taking place at home. If you have not seen your child's reading record recently, please could you request a quick 'peek'. Many thanks. Back to topBook Week: Monday 11th - Friday 15th November
We are looking forward to the second Book Week at Innsworth Junior School. As organised last year, there will be many activities including book quizes, a visit by an author and a fancy dress parade on the Friday. We also encourage parents and grandparents to visit their child's class with their favourite book. If you are available or have any questions relating to Book Week please see Mrs Pendlebury. Back to top

It is greatly appreciated if P.E. kit can be at school on Mondays and kept here for the whole week. This ensures that it is always available for children. Children will naturally be excused P.E. and games on medical grounds. Please send a note to the teacher if this is necessary.Remember: Black shorts and white top for P.E. Plimsolls or bare feet for gymnastics, trainers only for outdoor games. Back to top
Arriving at School
Occasionally some of our children hang around the shop area prior to coming into school. I hope you will agree that this is not a good or safe way to start the day. Being unsupervised, problems do occur and so we would appreciate your support in reinforcing the need to come directly into the playground. Obviously, if they need to purchase goods from the shop, they are able to do so. Back to topSecondary Transfer (Year 6 parents only)
All secondary selection forms must be in school by the morning of Friday 25th October. Back to topHalf Term - Week off next week!
I feel sure that you will have remembered that half term is almost upon us. It has been another busy half term and I think everyone deserves a rest. Congratulations must go to our Year 3 pupils who have settled into Innsworth Junior so well: they have taken the transition in their stride. Year 3 gave us a real treat with their assembly last week. I am sure that Larkfield children enjoyed their visit immensely.Enjoy your half term holiday week. For anyone going to firework parties, please take care!
The first day back for the children will be Monday 4th November. Back to top
