Mathematics Week
This was a huge success. Both Miss Stocken and myself are absolutely delighted with the way Maths Week went. We were bowled over with the entries for the fancy dress last Friday - everyone was so creative with their costumes. Thanks must go to the parents who gave up their time to help the children in the group activities that took place. The Key Quest day was a great success because every group throughout the day had an adult to oversee the activity. Many parents spent the whole of Tuesday in the school hall. The turn out for the Curriculum Evening surpassed our expectations. Perhaps some of you had prior knowledge of Tim Foster's presentational skills. He was an excellent speaker and kept us entertained throughout. His passion for Mathematics was evident and if only a little of this has rubbed off on some of our children, then last week will have been more than worthwhile. This was Miss Stocken's first venture into 'leadership' and what a success she made. No doubt, it is the first of many to come.
If Ben Rogers' quote: "I really wanted lots of Maths Weeks in a row because I really, really, enjoyed it" is anything to go by, then children's views about Maths certainly will be very positive.

Sponsored English
Congratulations must go to all the children who took part in this year's sponsored event. It was a tremendous success in terms of learning and money raised. The total so far is £894.81 which will go towards an interactive whiteboard. Thank you to all parents who encouraged their children in this English task. Hopefully these facts will be of use in the coming years. Certificates will be issued to those children who did exceptionally well or who met a personal target. Back to topRed Nose Day
Thanks to Mrs Pendlebury and Mrs Lane we raised £130.41 for Comic Relief. When I watched some of the sad stories on television on Friday night with my daughter, it did prompt great discussion between us. We could not get over how little some people in the world have. Back to topYear 6 - English and Mathematics Booster Groups
Early morning booster groups are now in the seventh week. Whilst there have been a few children 'falling by the wayside', the majority have stayed the course. Well done to these children. It is about taking the opportunities whilst they are available. Back to topYear 6 - Saturday morning English and Mathematics Sessions
Next Saturday is our last session and as promised, we shall all be feasting on Macdonald's food. This is our reward for giving up six Saturday mornings. Judging by the attendance, I feel it has been a great success. Pupil evaluation sheets will reveal whether I am correct in my assumption. The real benefit of coming to these sessions has been the increase in the children's confidence. Back to topSorting out your wardrobe?

We will shortly be advertising an LSW vacancy for five afternoons each week. If you are interested in this position, please come into the school office for details. Back to topSchool Representatives
On Monday we were able to announce the result of our Year 6 election. A democratic voting system was employed whereby all the Year 6 pupils and teaching staff each had a single vote. Four boys and four girls went forward to the second round. Well done to Rosie Eaton and Ieuan Clements who have both been chosen as our pupil representatives for the school. Back to topConsultation Evening for Year 6
The Year 6 consultation evening has been arranged for Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd April. This has been arranged as late as possible in the term so that the teachers can give parents the best possible assessment of their child's work before we start the Summer term. As I am away on a course, I will not be available for any parents wishing to see me. However, I will be back in school on Friday 4th April if you have any concerns or just want to have a little chat.
