End of Term Arrangements: Thursday 19th July - last day of term 'Bad Hair and Free Dress Day'
For our Year 3 and new parents, this is the day where all children compete for the most outrageous hairdo they can sport! Please look at the photographs in the reception area for ideas if you are not sure about 'acceptability'! Some children go for looking outrageous, some go for spectacular but pretty, others go with whatever happens to be available. It is a fun idea, although you have to pay, with money going to CLIC. How much you pay, is up to you. The last day of term is also 'Free Dress Day' so children may wear their home clothes.Thursday 19th July at 11.00 a.m.
This is the Leavers' Assembly, whereby our Year 6 pupils will be reminiscing about their time at this school. It will also be the time to say goodbye to Mr Barrow. Oh, how we will miss his banter throughout the school! The Year 6 children and parents recognise what a quality act he is and know how privileged they have been to have had a year under his care. Come along and say 'Goodbye' - he is a real softie at heart and this will be a special moment for him.
All parents are welcome.
This week we are also saying goodbye to Mrs Neal-Hopes, who has provided cover for teachers, when they have been having their release time. We wish her well as she moves to pastures new.
Mrs Green, both a parent and a midday supervisor, is also leaving us this week. Again, we wish her well as she moves to a new base in Somerset. Back to top
Reports / Consultation Evening
Attached to the paper version of this newsletter is a report feedback form, which we would really like you to complete and send back to us before the end of term.Thank you to all the parents who came into school to have a look at their children's work this week. Children do enjoy sharing their work with their parents. Back to top
Sports Day
What a triumph! This year's Sports Day has been proclaimed, 'The Best Ever' and nobody can argue with that. The children were engrossed in their sporting activities throughout the morning, being totally focused on working as a team. This was so good to see, as was the way they responded to the expectations of Mr Barrow and the staff. The Year 6 rose to the challenge of providing team leadership in a committed way. Well done, Year 6. Now to Mr Barrow! Yesterday's triumph was down to Mr Barrow. He asked whether he could change the format and we simply said, 'Go Ahead' and we are so glad that he did! It was a pity that the parents, who were present in the morning, were not able to be in the school hall for the presentations of the medals. The children cheered for the winners of the individual sprints and for the overall winner of the day - Yellow Team. Well done, Yellow Team, the first team on the new Challenge Shield. Thanks must also be given to the parents, who volunteered to help out during the morning. Without our supportive parents, we would not be able to carry out our many activities.Unfortunately, as I had a pre arranged meeting with the Educational Psychologist I was not able to spend as much time being outside as I would have liked. However, as the meeting took place in the SEN room, we were able to witness the children's enjoyment without being seen!
Thanks must go to the Friends, who donated £200 towards the medals and trophy. Back to top
Residential Visit 2007
Another very successful residential visit has once again taken place. All the adults reported on the children's excellent behaviour and how well they responded, when asked to go to bed! Well done, to all the children, who took part in this year's visit and made it such an enjoyable experience. Thanks must go to Miss Stocken and her merry band of helpers: Mr Barrow, Miss Mackie, Mrs Wilmot, Mr Bartlett, Mr Levett and Mrs Edwards, who gave up five days of their time to ensure that the visit met the expectations of all the children. Miss Stocken, as usual, had the organisation down to a fine art because of her attention to detail. Thank you Miss Stocken. Back to topCycling Proficiency
This year we have been unable to offer cycling proficiency training to our Year 6 pupils. The main reason has been to do with finding trainers. Unfortunately, the nature of the training changed and as a result, our usual trainers were unable to offer their services. When trainers were found, two weeks ago, the school diary was so full that we could not fit anything else in.The good news is that Holiday Cycle training is available at various places during the summer holiday. Please ring 01452 425600 if you are interested. Back to top

School Trips
Once again, this term has been an eventful one for school outings.Year 5 and 6 non-residential children had a super creative day at Bristol Zoo. Quote from one child "I really enjoyed stroking all the animals!"
Year 6: A Field trip to Cheltenham took place as part of their Geography work.
Year 4: A visit to Robinwood Country Park. Quote from a Year 4 child "We got to do really fun activities and Rosie the Ranger showed us slides of how to recognise animal tracks." Back to top
